I love the Y. It's dependable, always clean, people are nice, it's not overly busy, and the classes are great. I like John's spin, Christina's body pump, and recently got into Monica's strength intervals. The new layout has opened up the free weights which had some congestion.
One improvement would be to actively announce when the pool will be open, and the hours when the season comes. We have a small kiddo who loves the water.
Joined recently, love this gym. It was built recently and is a very nice facility. It's nice and clean and COOL during this wretchedly hot summer. They must have gotten their ac issues fixed that other people complained about. It's always wonderfully cool when I work out there, including in the class rooms upstairs.
Love their yoga classes. They have at least one offered per day and the instructors are great. I do wish they actually described the yoga classes on the schedule rather than just calling them "yoga". Some are Iyengar, some are vinyasa, some yin - would be nice not have to figure it out through trial and error.
They do have issues with too many pieces of equipment being out for maintenance issues (and they put the dates on the sign so you can tell they've been down for months), but I still feel like the Y is a good value given how much cheaper it is than comparable full service gyms like lifetime or equinox.
A huge shout out to the wonderful employee Rob! He was so welcoming and helpful getting me set up. My little ones were getting impatient and Rob took the initiative and helped me. I was very skeptical about joining but this right here gave me so much comfort. This was my first interaction and honestly I feel like I’m right where I need to be. Thank you Rob & YMCA. This is an unforgettable moment.
This Y does not disappoint. It is always clean, the floors stay dry, there are machines and towels available, despite it being very busy! It is always packed with diverse people who care about their own health and well-being and the health and well-being of the community.
We love the managing team and the team leader, we LOVE our kids' instructor, Troy, he is excellent with kids of a variety of temperaments and skill levels. I love that the kids can play for a bit in the fountain area before/after their class and that the parents can find a place to sit during the lesson. The YMCA White Rock's facilities are also stellar. We could not be happier, what a great team and program you have here!!
I’ve worked out at the White Rock YMCA for close to 15 years now. Long before they relocated to the current location. As someone who works out at the gym 6 days a week, I can’t imagine not recommending them to friends. New equipment regularly and it’s always super clean. Sallie, one of the managers, is amazing! Michael and Elizabeth and all the others at the front desk every morning are the friendliest people ever. I love seeing the gym regulars every morning and it’s a great place to catch up with neighbors. Also, they are here to help the community and people who might need a little help with camp or swim lessons, senior programs etc. They are a big part of the Lakewood community.
Long time Y member in many locations and I think the Whiterock YMCA is the best I’ve been to. The classes are varied and instructors are outstanding.
The classes are top-notch with some of the best instructors, especially Lisa and Marge! The equipment is awesome and always clean. The staff especially Daniel are always informative and helpful. It is a very family-friendly environment.
